Dear Friend,

In my last letter, I wrote that God is calling us to prayer that seeks His Face, not just His Hand. Today, I’d like to share what to expect when you make that type of prayer a way of life—repentance and yieldedness.

Repentance: A Transformation of Mind

From the Old to New Testament, God often called His people to repent, to turn away from their sinful ways. That is because repentance is a change of mind from one’s own way, and a turning back to God’s own way. This change is critical because it realigns our purpose and will with that of our Lord Jesus Christ. No wonder John the Baptist preceded Jesus’ ministry with a call to repentance, urging people to turn back to God because His Kingdom was at hand (Matthew 3:2).

So, when I talk about repentance, please don’t think it’s about asking for forgiveness and then moving on. Begin to see it for what it should be: a transformation that turns you back to God—it realigns your thinking and doing with God’s righteousness. This is why we know true repentance by its fruit. People could tell that the disciples had been with Jesus because a radical shift in their speech and actions showed they were of one mind with Him (Acts 4:13). They were no longer the men they used to be. They had changed their minds and ways to align with Christ’s; they had returned to God.

We see the same in Isaiah 6 when Isaiah beheld the glory of God (His Face, not just His Hand). Confronted by God’s great holiness, Isaiah declared, “Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips.” That was the prophet’s moment of acknowledgement and repentance, and it prompted the Lord’s angel to take a live coal and cleanse him. Once Isaiah had repented and realigned himself with God, next came his yieldedness.

“Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.”

–    Isaiah 6:8

Yieldedness: Embracing Divine Direction

When we return to God, He reveals His purpose and will to us so we can yield to it, just as Isaiah did. Yieldedness and repentance must go together because yieldedness is the brokenness that allows God to work on you long-term. Prayer leads us to yieldedness so that we can sustain our repentance and remain with God. God wants us to shed sinful habits and weaknesses completely. That can only happen as we yield to the promptings of the Spirit and ask Him to send us, to fill us, and to take over where sin once ruled.

Friend, as you remain in God’s presence, you will come to a deeper knowledge of who you are in Him. You’ll yield to His Spirit’s nudging, and adopt the new nature that reflects your true identity in Christ. This journey of personal repentance and yieldedness is crucial for individual and church revival. We are on the cusp of a significant movement of prayer that will precede the outpouring of the Spirit, leading to widespread revival. I believe that in the days to come, we will see prayer movements rise a lot, birthing repentance and yieldedness before the outpouring of the Spirit. Don’t be left out.

Shalom,

God bless you man of God for the message…. I pray for more strength….. My question is how do i maintain a healthy prayer pattern?
I find myself falling back most times… I also make excuses for myself not to pray..
    How do i handle that

    • The Eagle says:

Is God your priority? If you are in love with someone, you will find the time to call the person, to send a message to the person and to be with the person. Make God your priority, the first Voice you want to hear in the morning, the person you want to consult in every matter, when you do this, you wouldn’t have any excuse to not want to be with Him.

You also need to schedule time with Him like a date or appointment. Time that won’t be rescheduled for anything. That’s your time together. If you do this consistently, you will even be carving out more time to be with Him.

Thank you for sharing those insights sir. It’s a powerful reminder of the importance of yielding to God’s will and aligning ourselves with His purpose through prayer and repentance. I agree that yielding to the promptings of the Spirit is essential for overcoming sinful habits and weaknesses. It’s a continuous process of growth and surrender to God’s transformative work in our lives. where we surrender our will to His and allow Him to mold us according to His purpose. It’s through this yieldedness that we experience true transformation and liberation from sinful patterns. Prayer becomes the conduit through which we cultivate and sustain our yieldedness, enabling us to remain steadfast in our repentance and connected to God’s presence. Your emphasis on shedding sinful habits completely speaks to the depth of God’s desire for our holiness and restoration. It’s a journey where we continually rely on the Spirit’s guidance. God bless you sir more grace and wisdom !

    • The Eagle says:

Hi, start by making a discipline of asking God for forgiveness and for strength to flee sin. Make a practice of reading your bible and praying, and doing as His Word instructs.

  • Oluwabukola says:

God bless you for this sir.. This all I needed to hear because I neglected my call and left my altar cold🥹 but now I’m convinced I can always run back but not just to run back but remain in his presence🤲

  • Monisola says:

    Good evening sir,
I read my Bible 12pm, 3pm, 6pm and also before my prayer altar time which is 10pm.

How do I hear from God and also how do I know His voice

    • The Eagle says:

Firstly what is your heart posture in doing all these? Are you just doing these to “mark a register” or do you truly want to know God? If you want to know Him more, you will need to meditate on what you read; don’t just consume volume. Secondly, note down things that jump out at you, ask God to show you what He wants you to know and understand. And, most importantly, do what the Word you read says. When you act on what you are consuming, the Lord’s ways and Voice will become clearer and familiar to you.

  • Tobi O. says:

    Good morning sir,

Thank you for this insightful teaching. What should someone do when God reveals His purpose and will in a person’s life, yet the person might be finding it difficult to yield to the will of God because it might be something that they may not be used to? How should that person yield?

    Thank you.

  • Kiki says:

What’s the difference between seeking the hand of God and seeking the Face if God?
Does one talk about his help and the other her about knowing him?

    • The Eagle says:

Yes, one is about seeking gifts/help, while the other is about knowing Him and doing His will. It’s just like how our best relationships on earth are with people who come to us for who we are, not just because they want something we can provide.

  • This whole message has helped to change my concept of seeking only the Hand of God fervently and the Face of God.
And also when we seek the Face of God ,we’ll come to a deeper understanding of who we are in Him and our purpose are being realigned with that of He’s. I am much obliged by this message.
